Munchies Mafia, located on Section 4 of Minzu Avenue in Taipei, is a uniquely styled café that specializes in light meals and desserts with European and American flavors. The prices for sandwiches are relatively high, and there are limited indoor seats primarily outdoors, which can feel a bit stuffy during Taipei's summer.

“DON’S FEAST”
This open-faced sandwich features prosciutto paired with Parmesan cheese, confit cherry tomatoes, grilled zucchini, and arugula, offering a delightful mix of savory and refreshing vegetable flavors. While the ham is raw, it might make some sensitive to raw food hesitate; however, I personally enjoy the saltiness and richness brought by the low-temperature cured meats. Fortunately, the overall combination is well-balanced, not too salty or greasy, and each bite is refreshing with layers of flavor 🥪

“BIG SMOKE”
For a bolder flavor, the star ingredients are smoked beef brisket and aged gouda cheese, accompanied by homemade coleslaw and dill pickles, enhanced by mustard garlic mayonnaise for added flavor. The rich texture is satisfying without being overwhelming. The smoked beef is tender and juicy, contrasting wonderfully with the crunchiness of the pickles and coleslaw, resulting in a multi-layered taste, perfect for those who enjoy American-style dishes.

“BASQUE CHEESECAKE”
I came specifically for this Basque cheesecake, which is definitely the signature item at Munchies Mafia! It boasts a perfect balance of milky and caramelized flavors, with an incredibly creamy and thick molten center, just the right sweetness without being cloying. Enjoying it on its own is a delight, but paired with a cup of black coffee, it’s even better. The completion of this dessert is quite high; it’s definitely worth a visit even if it’s just for this cheesecake!

“AFFOGATO”
Affogato is a simple yet refined dessert, consisting of vanilla ice cream drizzled with rich Italian espresso. The version at Munchies Mafia has an authentic taste, with rich creamy ice cream blending perfectly with the bitter-sweet espresso, providing a refreshing treat for summer afternoons ☕️
