Overall Review: 🌕🌕🌗🌑🌑
Dickson's Fooday Review #274
Although it's called a café, my main purpose for visiting was to eat curry rice!

I heard the curry rice here is quite delicious.
It just so happens that this café collaborates with another curry shop, Xiao Ying Curry!
I've also heard that's one of the better curry places in Taipei.
So basically, I came here specifically for the curry 😂😂😂

The café is located next to the Guting MRT Station,
making it quite convenient to get there.
After getting off the metro, you just need to walk into the alley for about five minutes to arrive.
The interior space of the café isn't small,
and there are quite a few seats available.
During dinner time, it wasn't fully packed yet.

The drink menu is pretty standard for a coffee shop,
and there are also two or three curry options along with other small bites and fried items.
So during dinner time, it’s basically a café that serves meals!

For friends who particularly enjoy curry,
I think you should come here and give it a try.
After all, the curry here has its own unique features.
Xiao Ying's curry specializes in dry curry,
and since I haven't tried it before, I wanted to give it a go~~

⭐️ Food Section
👉 Char-grilled Chashu Curry Rice $220
Of course, when I come here, I must try the signature curry rice.
I originally wanted to order a special half-cooked egg dry curry,
but when I saw the char-grilled chashu curry rice,
I couldn't resist ordering it!!

This plate of curry rice has a very rich flavor,
leaning towards a Taiwanese curry style.
The chashu meat is quite generous,
the portion is substantial, and there is a lot of it.
The flavor of the chashu is strong,
but overall, the curry itself doesn’t have any particularly outstanding features.

It’s more like the kind of curry you might find at a home-cooked meal outside.
It's not bad,
but it feels like it's lacking a bit of a distinctive taste.
Maybe my expectations were just too high 😂😂

I can only say it’s a pretty ordinary curry set with delicious char-grilled chashu!
I was quite satisfied with the pork,
but the curry rice was just okay~~

👉 Egg and Egg Salad Sandwich $150
I originally thought a salad sandwich would be a refreshing light meal,
but it ended up feeling a bit like a burger when it arrived 😂😂😂

I personally found this salad sandwich to be quite refreshing,
and overall, I think it performed better than the curry 😂😂

The salad is very crisp,
and it feels sweet and tasty without any heaviness!
If you're looking for some light snacks at this café,
I would recommend this dish!

👉 Lemon and Fried Chicken $180
This is just a basic fried chicken dish,
slightly flavored with lemon,
and it's somewhat unremarkable. 😂😂

Regarding the food,
I initially came because I saw on social media
that Xiao Ying Curry is one of the must-try curry shops in Taipei.
Now you can enjoy that curry at this café,
so I came with high expectations.

As for the curry,
I can’t say it’s bad,
but this visit felt like it was on the level of a typical curry shop elsewhere.
Maybe it’s because I didn’t get to try the dry curry this time.
I might come back next time if I get the chance to give it a try!

⭐️ Drinks Section
Since the café has a minimum spend policy requiring each guest to order a drink,
my friends and I ordered the fresh milk black tea there.
Personally, I feel the drinks here aren't particularly outstanding or notable.
It’s just the standard level for café beverages.

⭐️ Atmosphere Section
The café's space is quite laid-back, suitable for chatting with friends over tea or snacks.
The interior isn't very large but not small either,
and it can accommodate about eight or nine groups of customers.
The tables and chairs are quite standard,
and the spacing between the tables isn’t too cramped,
so you can comfortably chat with friends here.

The setting and décor are very typical for a café,
but it's decent!

⭐️ Service Section
During my visit,
the café didn’t provide any special services,
just basic ordering and food delivery.

Also, the cutlery is self-service,
so you need to get your own utensils and water~
The café doesn't offer any special service!

⭐️ Price Section
In terms of café prices in Taipei,
this one falls into a mid to low price range,
and I think it offers good value for money.
Including the curry rice,
for this quantity, I think it’s very sincere.
As mentioned earlier, they provide quite a generous portion of pork.

So regarding the price,
I think it’s quite good.
If you enjoy curry or are looking for a café to sit down at,
the prices here are great!
I would recommend coming!

⭐️ Overall
Since Dickson came with the intent of eating curry rice,
most of the scoring criteria were focused on curry rice.
As a café near Guting,
I find the overall environment and pricing to be quite attractive.

Of course, the curry rice and other dishes are at least average in quality,
even though it's not a must-try curry.
However, you can enjoy some decent curry rice at this café,
which I think makes it worth it.

If you're looking for a café to relax and spend an afternoon or dine near Guting,
consider this one!
