🚩 A humble old shop, the chef's home-cooked dishes are delicious.

📍 Location and Transportation: The "Cabbage Chicken" small restaurant is located in the district of Xindian, New Taipei City. The nearest MRT station is Qizhang Station, Exit 2, which is a 7-minute walk. If driving, you can park at the nearby Dafeng Youhuo parking lot, which is a 3-minute drive away.

🏠 Space: The restaurant has been open for a long time and has no elaborate decorations, but it is clean and bright inside. It has 4 tables for 10 people and 2 tables for 8 people. Today, during lunch on a holiday, there were only two groups of customers.

💰 Ordering and Payment: The server takes orders verbally at the table, and customers pay after their meal, with cash payment only.

💭 Summary:
This restaurant has been around for decades, and I've always wanted to try it. Normally, with just two people, we cannot come here to eat, but since we had a rare gathering with elders, we chose this restaurant. The staff feels like family, giving a sense of stepping into the boss's living room 🤣. However, the dishes are of a certain quality, with only one dish not very good. I think I will come again for the cabbage chicken soup when winter arrives 😋.

White Jade Soft Squid $380 Recommended Dish No. 2 Stir-fried with cucumber, the presentation is beautiful. The cucumber is crispy, and the soft squid is not overcooked, remaining tender. The sauce has a balanced salty-sweet flavor, and the portion is generous.
Lotus root stir-fried with mushrooms $260 (This dish is not on the menu) The lotus root is crunchy; I haven't tried it with mushrooms before, but they complement each other well without conflict. The seasoning is light, and it's delicious with a generous portion.
Iron Plate Tofu $180 The tofu used is板豆腐, with a soft and tender texture. The color is beautiful, and the sauce is rich, making it perfect to accompany rice.
Plum Pickled Pork $260 Recommended dish The three-layer meat is not very thin, and there is quite a lot of pickled plum vegetables at the bottom. It is cooked soft but lacks flavor, and it tastes completely unsalted. Not recommended.
Lettuce Shrimp Stir-fry $400 The lettuce is very crispy, and the shrimp is chopped into small pieces, stir-fried with fried dough sticks. The white little cubes are not water chestnuts; the restaurant mentioned it's another type of vegetable (couldn't remember 😂). The seasoning is refreshing and delicious, and the portion is quite large, but the price is on the higher side.
Brassica Soup $500 Brassica uses tender leaves that are not coarse or hard to chew. Normally, Brassica has a bitter taste, but this soup does not; it has only a very slight bitterness and is a delicious soup (it feels more suitable to drink in winter). The chicken is also stewed very tenderly, and the portion is quite large; the four of us adults couldn't finish it and took the leftovers home.
