This local favorite, “Huaxi Braised Pork Rice,” is hidden on Ruilong Road and has been a classic favorite for many residents of Kaohsiung since childhood!

So fragrant – this bowl of braised pork rice, paired with pickled mustard greens and ginger slices, is simply a match made in heaven! The best part is, you can choose fatty pork, medium cut, or lean pork. They really think of everything!

I personally love choosing the medium cut, which is half fat and half lean, braised to a shine and melts in your mouth. The soy sauce flavor seeps into every layer of the fat, and taking a bite is so satisfying!

Their chili sauce is the kind that is spicy but enhances the flavor, perfectly complementing the braised pork, making you finish the rice in no time!

Extra rice is 5 TWD, but it's really a generous portion that fills you up – the braising sauce seeps into the rice, making each bite a classic Taiwanese delight.
