Every time I pass by, I can smell the enticing aroma. This time, I finally came with everyone to taste the flavors. Both the exterior and interior exude a sense of age.
Braised Pork with Preserved Plums: This is super satisfying with rice! Definitely order a bowl of rice. The pickles have a slight sour and spicy flavor, but there’s a bit too much lean meat for my taste. Those who prefer fattier meat might find it a bit lacking.
Crystal Chicken: You must order this! It’s so delicious that we ended up ordering a second plate. The meat is very tender, and there’s something gelatinous inside. After seasoning and letting it chill, it was gone in just a few bites.
Stir-fried Cabbage: It’s very crunchy, but my mouth felt quite oily after finishing. They might have used a little too much oil.
Cold Bamboo Shoots: Highly recommended!! Even in summer, it’s refreshing. It seems like they select the bamboo shoots well, as none of the pieces tasted overcooked or tough. It was quickly finished off.
Scrambled Eggs with Beef: The eggs aren’t smooth at all. There was still a layer of oil left on the plate after eating. But everyone said the flavor was okay, right?
Spicy Pork Intestines: Just a standard dish. For those who usually eat mildly spicy food, they should be able to handle this level of spiciness. It’s a bit salty, so remember to drink some warm tea from the restaurant to balance it out.
Special Soup: This soup!!! After drinking it, I really loved it! At first, I thought the name was strange, but I decided to try it out. Surprisingly, the restaurant said this is a signature dish. I stumbled upon it accidentally, and it turned out to be unexpectedly delicious. The radish looks like it's been finely sliced from a whole piece, almost like a slightly transparent sheet. It melts in your mouth, making it easy for the elderly at home to eat.
Finally, the dessert after the meal is:
Silver Silk Roll: I thought they would serve sweetened condensed milk like elsewhere, but the restaurant said it’s meant to be eaten just like this—no condensed milk! If you want to try this dish, you should bring your own condensed milk! The texture should be enjoyed hot; the skin is crispy and not greasy. The taste is just like flour, but it's quite large. This is great to pair with the preserved vegetables.
I will definitely order this again next time. The restaurant also has side dishes, but since we arrived late, they said the side dishes were gone, so I’m not sure if we would have to pay for them? Ice cream can be eaten on-site, with eight flavors available, and it's very easy to scoop out a ball; it’s not difficult at all.
