Dickson's Fooday Tongue-Twisting Food Diary #219
This time I’d like to introduce a Japanese restaurant located in the Zhongshan District.
If any friends particularly enjoy soba noodles in Taipei, they should be familiar with this place!
After all, it's one of the well-known soba noodle shops in Taipei!
This restaurant mainly sells a variety of Japanese cuisine
and operates more like an izakaya.
The menu lists a substantial amount of Japanese dishes,
and there’s a rich selection.
Basically, everything you’d typically want to eat at a Japanese izakaya can be found here!
The interior of the restaurant isn't too large;
it’s run in a very traditional Japanese izakaya style.
Once you walk in, you can feel the vibrant Japanese energy!
As for the dining options,
soba noodles are a major highlight here,
so if you visit,
I highly recommend ordering soba noodles to try.
The soba noodles here are handmade,
so they do come at a slightly higher price—
but if you've never tried soba before,
I would definitely recommend giving it a try!
Moreover, other Japanese dishes here are also above standard.
Friends who usually enjoy Japanese food won’t be disappointed here! 🤣🤣

⭐️ Food Section
👉 Grilled Abalone (2 pieces) $420
This abalone is definitely a dish I highly recommend
because it’s incredibly delicious!!
So good that I have to say it three times! 🤣🤣🤣
Although it looks small,
the portion is indeed not large,
but it’s very juicy and refreshing!
The restaurant is also quite considerate;
they’ve cut it into a few pieces,
with each abalone approximately in two or three bite-sized pieces.
Every bite is divine and wonderful! 😍😍
Therefore, I think this dish is a must-order!
👉 Stir-fried Eggs with Garlic Chives and Young Fish $250
This is a more ordinary dish of stir-fried eggs with young fish—
the taste is quite refreshing
because, after all, it’s eggs matched with young fish,
giving it the feel of a light congee side dish.
👉 Fried Chicken $290
The fried chicken here is very much like regular Japanese fried chicken,
but it's processed well—
not too greasy or dry,
although it is quite rich in oiliness!
Paired with other sauces or garnishes on the side, the flavor is really nice!
👉 Oyster and Sea Urchin Chawanmushi $390
This can be considered a more premium version of chawanmushi.
It has a lot of ingredients,
and the sea urchin is very prominent on top of the chawanmushi.
The ingredients are quite rich,
and overall, it’s like a high-end version of chawanmushi—
another one I recommend you order!
👉 Soba Noodles $520
Now we come to the main attraction: the soba noodles.
There are actually various options for toppings,
including yam or duck, etc.,
depending on what everyone wants to complement their soba with that day—
Dickson, in fact, didn’t often eat soba noodles in the past;
his impressions of it were only from a few times in Japan.
Thus, he never had a deep impression of soba noodles,
but upon arriving at this famous soba specialty shop,
he was obviously eager to give it a try.
Indeed, the handmade soba noodles are really quite soft and springy!
When paired with the sauce,
the coolness is just perfect.
However, this might just be personal opinion—
even though the texture of the soba noodles is remarkable,
after a while, it does feel a bit monotonous—
as if it requires other flavors or ingredients to assist it! 🤣🤣🤣
This is purely a personal perspective!
After all, eating soba noodles is meant to be enjoyed this way, right? 🤣🤣🤣
This restaurant has a lot of great food;
various Japanese dishes are all above standard,
and there’s nothing particularly bad about it.
The soba noodles’ characteristics are also executed very well;
the texture is very distinctive!
If you enjoy Japanese cuisine,
you definitely won’t regret coming to this restaurant—
especially if you particularly love soba noodles,
then coming here is absolutely the right choice!
⭐️ Drink Section
Of course, a Japanese izakaya has a variety of sake,
and this place definitely offers that.
On the day of the visit, I casually ordered a couple of small drinks
with friends,
but since I didn’t particularly choose any special drinks to try,
the average was about right.
⭐️ Atmosphere Section
The restaurant is very much a standard izakaya—
most of the seating areas are in front of the bar,
allowing you to see the Japanese chef cooking inside.
Given the small size of the interior,
it’s also important to assess whether other patrons are too noisy;
you can easily hear what others are saying next to you.
You can only say this place has a genuine Japanese atmosphere!
⭐️ Service Section
From what I remember, the service here isn’t particularly notable;
it’s just basic, where you order from your seat,
and the dishes will be brought to you once they’re ready.
⭐️ Price Section
Regarding other Japanese dishes,
I personally feel the prices here are reasonably standard—
a typical price range for Japanese food.
The soba noodles are the restaurant’s signature feature,
and since they are handmade and specially prepared,
the price might be slightly higher,
even if the portion is not large.
So I think for those visiting for the first time
and wanting to try soba noodles,
it's a good idea to share a portion with a friend
to see what the experience of eating soba is like
and to check if your preferences match!
⭐️ Location Section
The restaurant is located near Linsen North Road,
and there is a bit of distance from Zhongshan Station.
So whether you come from the MRT station or by bus,
you’ll have to walk a little bit.
I find the location acceptable;
it takes about a 10 to 15-minute walk to get there—
and the area is lively,
so after dining, you can stroll nearby for the next stop.
Thus, the location is convenient enough,
with things to do around!
⭐️ Overall
I think this restaurant is really a nice spot for Japanese cuisine.
Some of its basic Japanese dishes are quite authentic.
Whether you enjoy soba or not,
it’s worth trying this place out—
its soba is quite characteristic!
Other Japanese dishes also surpass standard quality,
and the restaurant’s decor gives off a full Japanese vibe,
creating the feeling of a local izakaya!
So if you’re a fan of Japanese food,
there’s no reason not to come and give this a try!
🤪 Dickson's Tongue-Twisting Zone 🤪
If you know a girl who really loves soba noodles,
of course, you should bring her here to try!
But since some people might be allergic to soba,
be mindful of that!
Look at this,
you can take advantage of this opportunity to eat Japanese food and soba
to find out if she has a soba allergy!
Wow, you’ve just gained more knowledge about her!
😍😍😍😍
Allergic Knowledge +1!!!
Isn’t that impressive~~~
