The affordable and delicious Thai restaurant "Original Flavors House" features a simple and understated décor, yet the Thai dishes are exceptionally tasty, making it a place with great value!
Original Flavors House is located in an alley near the #Nanjing Fuxing MRT Station. The sign and interior decor look a bit old, and when I first saw the entrance, I quietly thought that since the exterior looks so dated, the food might only be average. However, I was surprised to find that all the dishes I wanted to try had ratings above 4 stars, and everyone spent less than 300 NTD, making it very affordable, and the food was truly amazing!
Shrimp Moon Cakes - 160 NTD
The shrimp moon cakes are not very large, but their low price makes the size acceptable. There are 6 pieces, and they are exquisitely delicious without being too greasy. Pairing them with the sweet and sour sauce in the middle is a perfect match!
Curry Coconut Chicken - 150 NTD
There is an abundance of curry sauce! It comes in a full plate, and the chicken is tender and delicious, made from chicken breast. The curry coconut sauce is not spicy and has a slightly sweet taste, making it a great choice for those who are not fond of spicy food to enjoy with rice.
Shrimp Paste Water Spinach - 100 NTD
The shrimp paste water spinach is exceptionally delicious. The freshness and crunchiness of the water spinach, along with the pairing with the shrimp paste, are perfect. This dish is excellent with rice and highly recommended with a 5-star rating!
Stir-Fried Pork - 150 NTD
I think this minced pork stir-fry is even better than what you'd find at chain Thai restaurants! It's a very flavorful and spicy dish that goes well with rice. The minced meat is not fatty, not too spicy, and has just the right level of saltiness—aromatic and delicious. Again, I would give it a full 5-star recommendation.
Thai Grilled Pork - 190 NTD
I found this dish to be just okay. Perhaps it was because I was already full, but the taste of the grilled pork was rather ordinary and didn’t stimulate the appetite. Additionally, there were quite a few soft bone parts in the sliced pork, making it less smooth to eat.
Spicy Sour Seafood Soup - 220 NTD
This is one of the more expensive dishes on the menu, but I can say that the broth is incredibly good! It has a deliciously sour and spicy seafood flavor, and the richness is intense. The addition of basil leaves helps cut through the richness of the other salty Thai dishes, making it perfect to enjoy one or two bowls of this refreshing, sweet, and sour soup after indulging in many heavy dishes.
Overall, I had a wonderful experience! Aside from a slight musty smell in the restaurant and the old decor, the food was fantastically well-rounded, and the service was pretty much faultless.
If you're looking for recommendations for affordable Thai food, I would definitely suggest "Original Flavors House." It's well worth a visit!
