Yeh's Seafood is likely the best place for sashimi in downtown Taitung City. On holidays, there is often a long line, attracting many tourists. This store originally had a branch at the Zhonghua Market, and the prices at both locations are the same. However, the newer location on Qiangguo Street has a fresh decor that caters to a younger crowd, and with less traffic, it's easier to find parking.
In terms of sashimi in tourist areas, I think it's not expensive. You select your budget, and then choose a few types of fish, and they can help you mix and match. If you don’t select only salmon, you can fill a box of sashimi for NT$200-300. As for the texture, both salmon and tuna are quite delicious, with just the right amount of fat. However, I wouldn't recommend swordfish, as the piece I tried had tendons, making it very tough to chew and affecting the overall texture.
Besides sashimi, they also offer angel shrimp and octopus, but the prices for these are relatively high, so I wouldn’t recommend them here. Additionally, the store has many local snacks as well as frozen seafood for takeout, which makes for great gifts.
