The self-operated restaurant of Tsutaya Bookstore has desserts as its strong point and salty dishes as well, but the drinks are just mediocre.

I've had Chaya's hot matcha latte a few times, but it tastes bland and even tastes watery. This is my impression after visiting other matcha specialty stores, even Starbucks’ Matcha Natsu, they all performed better. Looking back, salty food is my favorite.

The bonito and shichimi noodle chips are an excellent innovation. The bonito flavor is a perfect match with the freshly fried fries. A little bit of shichimi noodle is not salty. It can be said that the French fries are reinterpreted with a Japanese flavor, but they don't look foreign, which shows how good the fusion is.
Chicken white soup and wild vegetable personal pot, the soup taste is not thick and bone-boiled, but refreshing and umami. The raw chicken legs come from free-range chickens raised in the East Longitudinal Valley. They are neatly cut and the skin is even slightly seared. The sweet cabbage that has been cooked for a long time has a buttery aroma. Many details of the tea house are reflected in these small places, except that the pottery pot has a low fire and is not easy to boil, so it takes a little longer.
The special black curry with fried pork cutlet and cheese, and the tomato soup is quite delicious, sweet and not sour. Unique flavor of black curry with a kick of great balsamic vinegar? This is one of the few curry items that I completely agree can add points to the fried pork cutlet.
However, the fried pork chop itself is on the ordinary side and not thick-cut. The origin list of the meat products at the checkout indicates that this pork chop comes from Paraguay, not Taiwan, which is the specialty of its own pork.
Chaya rice is all made of konjac rice, which means that the white rice is mixed with rice-like konjac. You can visually see a slight difference in gloss, and when you eat it, it highlights the chewy texture of the rice grains and the dual texture. It is highly recommended.
Today's dessert is a red bean and purple rice soup with purple rice as the main flavor and a white jade. It has a surprising texture that is not sticky and glutinous. It is worth recommending. I remembered that I had eaten the signature Chaya waffles many times before. The matcha ice cream was rich, the waffles had a delicate texture, and they were paired with refreshing fruits. Desserts are indeed Chaya’s strength.
I still have to talk about the shortcomings: the teahouse bowls and cups have many scratches. At first glance, I thought they had not been cleaned. In fact, they should be completely replaced with new ones.
