While searching for dinner options in the Wu-Hsing shopping district, I unexpectedly discovered a beef noodle shop. I was initially attracted by the sign for "Jing Bing" at the entrance, but when I saw the high price of the beef noodles, I forgot to order the Jing Bing. 😆
The interior decor has the vibe of a traditional Taiwanese restaurant, and from the outside, you might miss out on a pretty good noodle shop.
【About the Environment】
The shop's decor is centered around a classic Taiwanese restaurant style, and stepping inside immediately gives a nostalgic feeling.
The first floor consists of the kitchen, counter, and a few dining tables. If you need side dishes, remember to grab them from the refrigerator on the first floor.
Most of the dining tables are concentrated in the basement, where it can feel a bit crowded. Although the air conditioning is strong, it might get stuffy due to the number of diners.
【About the Food】
The shop provides unsweetened hot black tea for self-service.
The soup base is fresh, sweet, and refreshing, allegedly simmered by the shop every morning from 7 AM.
You can choose between two types of noodles, thick or thin. This time I opted for the thin noodles, which have a good chewiness. The noodles soak up some soup, making it even tastier!
The beef offal was also surprisingly impressive—flavorful without being gamey! Initially, I was worried that the white beef tendon would have a strong fishy smell, but it turned out to be perfectly tender and had a delicious beef flavor rather than any unpleasant smell.
【About the Service】
The shop's service is mainly provided by a few older sisters, who naturally give off a warm Taiwanese hospitality vibe.
However, during the dining experience, there isn’t much interaction apart from ordering and settling the bill.
Interestingly, the ordering is done at the table. If you don't want certain condiments or have questions about the dishes, you can ask the older sisters then and there.
On the counter, there are some candies to cleanse your palate, and the older sister at the counter even reminded me that these are candies that have been offered for blessing, encouraging customers to take some for good luck. 🙏✨
