📍Zhongzheng District, Taipei City (Nanjichang Night Market)
A vegetarian restaurant famous for its freshly steamed stinky tofu 🌱
My friend said that when you come to Nanjichang Night Market, you must try this stinky tofu. There are two shops located in the night market.
Unlike other shops that sell fried or braised stinky tofu, this shop offers "freshly steamed" items.
What’s special about this stinky tofu shop is that it focuses on vegetarian cuisine, featuring dishes that are egg-free and dairy-free. The other items sold in the shop are also vegetarian, making it feel like a healthier meal option.
🥘 Freshly Steamed Stinky Tofu, Not Spicy ($90):
When served, it looks like two pieces of stinky tofu in a very salty broth, but in reality, the broth has little saltiness; instead, it has a slight fermented black bean flavor.
What's quite special about the stinky tofu here is the addition of basil and edamame on top, which was my first time experiencing such a flavor profile.
The texture of the stinky tofu is very delicate and creamy, and it’s quite flavorful as well.

Will I revisit? Maybe 🤔
Personally, I still prefer the braised or fried versions with stronger flavors! This shop is great for friends who enjoy light flavors and vegetarian dishes!
