Recently, a new chain bento shop opened in Taitung City. I didn't have high hopes at first because the bentos I've had in the west were quite ordinary, with nothing truly impressive. But this time it was different.

Although the portion size is about one bento box, the amount of vegetables given by the Taitung Gengsheng store is still very generous. Most importantly, the rice is not overlooked at all; the grains are distinct and have a slight chewiness, cooked just right. Moreover, the seasoning of oil and salt is very appropriate, making it quite healthy to eat.

In addition to the side dishes, there are many choices for the meat, including chicken, pork, fish, and various cooking methods, so you don't have to worry about not finding the bento you want. Furthermore, there's a soup available that you can serve yourself (although it’s a bit unfortunate that there’s no Yakult option).

Additionally, I think the most special thing is that while many people consider bento shops to be just takeout places, many bento shops in Taitung offer dine-in options, although the comfort level varies. This shop, in my opinion, has the most comfortable dining environment.
