📍Datong District, Taipei City (Ningxia Night Market Stall)
2022 Michelin Bib Gourmand recommended street food | Freshly Fried Taro Balls Shop 🥡
They only sell two items, both made from taro! There's always a long line whenever I visit Ningxia Night Market. This time I arrived a bit earlier, and the line moved pretty quickly; it took about 10 minutes from the time I started lining up to receiving my food.

🍡 Crispy Taro Balls ($20 each):
The price is quite reasonable; the original price is $25 each, and there’s a discount if you buy four together without separate packaging.
The sign next to the stall introduces that the taro selected is from Qiaotou, Kaohsiung. After steaming and mashing into taro paste, it's shaped into balls and then fried until the skin is crispy. What's great is that they change the oil daily!
Eating it fresh, the outside is crispy while the inside is soft, and the entire taro ball has a consistent texture. The taro aroma is quite sufficient upon tasting, and the flavor becomes more pronounced as you keep eating. The only downside is that the size of the taro balls feels significantly smaller compared to before.
