Reviewer of the Stomach Brace: No Restroom
This year for the Chinese New Year, I couldn’t resist going to the Keelung Temple Night Market to buy the traditional large cakes from Li Ji. I discovered this place when I was crazy about ‘moi chian’ (a type of Taiwanese pancake), and after trying it, it became a staple on my list. I still haven’t found anything that suits my taste better.
This time, I bought the peanut butter flavor, which costs 45 TWD for one and 120 TWD for three, and the size of the cake is quite large. When it comes out hot, the outer layer is crispy, and it’s packed with a generous amount of peanut butter filling. The overall sweetness is off the charts, but it’s really enjoyable to eat. Once it cools down, it loses some of that freshly fried crispiness, but the taste is still pretty good.
Compared to other vendors’ versions, their peanut butter is truly overloaded. Although it’s quite sweet, I still find myself wanting to buy it every time I come to the Keelung Night Market.
They are open on the third day of the new year.
Closed from 1/18 to 2/2 all day.
