A place my friend has been eating at since childhood, the offerings are quite simple: meatballs, rice dumplings, pig's blood soup, yuan-soup, and fish-ball soup. I heard it was quite good when I passed by that day, so I decided to buy a meatball to try.
▪️Black meatball $40
The black meatball is named so because the sauce is black and the filling is made with black pork. Actually, I don’t have a special fondness for meatballs and don’t eat them often; I don’t have a strict preference for fried or steamed. This shop steams them, and the outer skin is a bit thick but very chewy, which I quite like. The filling is more like a mix, resembling the texture of bamboo shoot meat buns, not a solid piece of meat, but slightly crumbled, similar to some meat buns. When chewed, the meat texture is dense, and the sauce is normal, without any particularly outstanding aroma or flavor.
Overall, I really like the texture of the skin. It’s a large meatball, and the filling is quite generous. I felt quite full after eating. If I suddenly want some near my home, I would be willing to repurchase. There are some seats available for dine-in.
