Every evening I worry about what to eat, wanting meat, vegetables, and carbs while hoping it won't be too junky. I'm tired of regular buffet-style lunch boxes, and that's when I discovered "Wen Zhuang Yuan Chicken Rice Restaurant."

"Wen Zhuang Yuan Chicken Rice Restaurant - Main Flagship Store" is located near Taipei Station, with the closest exit being Z4, right next to the main station's Shin Kong Mitsukoshi and McDonald's.

Since it has been open for less than a year, the store looks very bright and clean. If you dine in, you need to go inside, find a seat, and then order at the counter next to the entrance. The downside is that there aren't many dining seats available; when I arrived at 5:30 PM on a weekday, only one table was left.

The food was served extremely quickly; it took less than three minutes from when I ordered until my meal was ready. You need to pick up your food at the counter and return your plates yourself after eating, and of course, utensils are self-serve too.

They provide free chicken soup and drinks for dining in, and you can add chili oil as you like.

Scallion Oil Chicken Dry Noodles $100
The chicken is shredded and the portion isn't very large, but the texture is incredibly tender, which is impressive and delicious. The noodles are ramen-style, and the portion is generous. The noodles are very chewy, but they aren't flavorful enough; the sauce has a superficial taste, and it feels like it didn’t quite hit the spot. However, they gave a good amount of crispy shallots, which is a plus. I highly recommend adding a bit of chili oil!

Blanched Vegetables $40
Today it was water spinach, and the portion of vegetables was quite large, leaving me feeling satisfied! The first bite felt a bit bland; the vegetable flavor was strong, with a faint aroma of crispy shallots, but it became saltier the more I ate, suggesting a bit too much salt was added.

Overall, I felt that this place satisfied my desire for a hearty meal. The chicken was good, the vegetable portion was enough, and the price is acceptable. I would be willing to revisit.
