Today I'm sharing with you the must-try food from the Michelin Bib Gourmand – a lavishly decorated braised pork rice restaurant! Although it's local cuisine, it carries a foreign name. Typically, there are long queues, whether it's foodies coming to enjoy the dishes or social media influencers just coming to take photos; this place is always bustling with customers.
I arrived a bit late today, around 8 PM, and since this restaurant closes at 8:30 PM, they stop providing dine-in service half an hour before, so I had to take my meal to go this time.
Now, let's get straight to the food review! I ordered the regular braised pork rice and the spicy braised pork rice. The base flavor of their braised pork rice has a slight sweetness and a rich aroma, without too many complex spices (like shallots), and the color is slightly lighter, yet it is still very fragrant! Additionally, there is plenty of collagen, making it slightly sticky on the lips; friends who enjoy this fatty, gelatinous style of braised pork rice shouldn't miss this!
As for the spicy braised pork rice, at first glance, one might think it's just braised pork rice drizzled with chili oil, which is probably true 😆, but I must say, after adding their chili oil, it can be considered two different dishes! The spicy braised pork rice doesn’t have as strong of a sweet flavor, with the aroma of the pork slightly overshadowed by the numbing sensation of the Sichuan pepper, bringing a different experience. Compared to the spiciness, the numbing sensation is much more pronounced. Whether it’s the spicy braised pork rice or the regular braised pork rice, pairing it with a runny egg yolk is still a perfect match. If I get the chance next time, I hope to try some of their other dishes. In short, I highly recommend this restaurant!
