The tiger oil rice has received great reviews, with the glutinous rice grains distinct and clear, paired with braised sauce and cilantro, making for a unique and refreshing taste. The braised pork rice and century egg tofu are slightly less impressive but still have a price advantage.
Although the environment is somewhat old and there are occasional flying insects, it is well-maintained and does not feel unclean.
Chaiyi Puzi Famous Store - Tiger Oil Rice!
It is said that takeout takes a long time to wait. We arrived for dine-in at 5:40 PM and there were no other customers in the store. Later, a few groups came in, but since it’s a snack, the turnover was quick!
Tiger Oil Rice $40
At first, seeing the Google reviews and the dish itself, I thought it looked so plain! Can it even be called oil rice?
But I was completely wrong; it was very delicious! The grains of glutinous rice were distinct, infused with a hint of sauce aroma, mixed with the braised sauce and cilantro drizzled on top. The flavor was no different from typical oil rice but had a refreshing touch. It truly deserves the praise from locals who have enjoyed it since childhood.
Braised Pork Rice $35
It’s topped with the same braised sauce as the oil rice, but without the aromatic rice and cilantro, it completely lost its soul. If it weren’t for my dislike for glutinous rice, I wouldn’t have found any other reason to order braised pork rice instead of oil rice. 🥲
Century Egg Tofu $35
The tofu here isn’t the soft kind that most places use; it’s firm tofu?
It felt a bit odd, but it was quite cheap…
The environment may be a bit old, and occasionally you might see some fruit flies or houseflies, but it didn’t feel terribly unclean; the tables and chairs clearly showed they were being maintained. I highly recommend trying this special oil rice; it might just become your favorite oil rice of all time!٩(˃̶͈̀௰˂̶͈́)و
