One day, I stumbled upon this place on Instagram. As a lover of pistachios, I immediately saved it to my must-try list. One day, when I suddenly had a craving for something sweet, I made a special trip to this shop.

The store isn't small, but there aren't many seats for dining in; it seems to focus more on takeout. Since they sell fried donuts and fried toast, there was a bit of an oily smell inside. If you're worried about your clothes getting that smell, takeout would be a better option.

When I visited that day, the staff member didn't really seem like a staff member; he stood beside the counter like a customer. I thought he was in line behind me. It took me a while to realize he was actually a staff member since he didn’t greet or introduce anything to the customers.

Since I wanted to try the pistachio flavor, I only ordered the French donut, which was the only item with pistachio flavor available. Each order comes with two pieces, but you have to order at least four donuts at a time, so I got two pistachio and two plain custard donuts.

After ordering, the staff member placed the already fried donuts into the oil for a second frying, but it seemed like the oil wasn't very hot. As soon as I received them, I dug in, but they weren't even warm.

Plain Custard:
It tasted just as you might imagine – quite standard and the filling was reasonably generous.

Pistachio:
The first bite tasted quite salty. Having tried several pistachio gelatos in Hong Kong, which all had a salty flavor, this pistachio French donut had the same saltiness. Moreover, the pistachio filling was really sparse, which was a bit disappointing.

I didn’t finish the takeout right away and brought one pistachio donut home to eat later. After sitting for several hours, it didn’t have any oily flavor. Without the crushed pistachios on the outside, it was not salty, but surprisingly the filling was quite abundant. The amount of filling differed significantly between the two donuts.

Overall, I wasn’t particularly fond of the taste. I also wouldn’t typically go near Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, so I probably won’t be visiting again.
