Thai restaurant | NT$310~NT$310

AI Spot Summary

🚩The Thai chef has over twenty years of experience in Taiwan, specializing in Thai cuisine that balances Taiwanese and Thai flavors. The decor is beautiful and the service experience is excellent.

My colleagues really love Thai food😆, so for lunch today we chose a highly rated Thai restaurant near the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, as reviewed on Google Maps. We walked over in the scorching midday sun and sweated profusely🥵. The interior decor is very lavish, with good lighting. The white walls are paired with floral wall art, and the European-style tables and chairs make it feel like an afternoon tea restaurant (even though we were eating Thai food…🤣), perfect for those looking to take aesthetic photos.

Once seated, the staff brought ice water and the menu. After choosing, the staff takes the order at the table (each person has a minimum spending of 300 NT dollars). After the meal, you can settle the bill using cash or various payment methods. The receipt includes a digital option, but not a physical one.

During ordering, the staff mentioned that their seasonings have been adjusted to suit Taiwanese tastes, making them less spicy and sour. If you want authentic Thai flavors, be sure to make a special note.

Here are my thoughts on the dishes:

  • Peppery Fried Tofu: Made from soft tofu cut into slender shapes, they are easy to eat and the fried coating is thin and doesn’t become tough. The dipping sauce is mild, and I found it quite good.
  • Green Curry Pork: The slices of meat are not thin but also not too thick; the green curry sauce is quite aromatic and rich, with only a slight spiciness. It pairs very well with rice—definitely a thumbs up.
  • Shrimp Paste Cabbage: This dish is not particularly memorable, but it is tasty in a standard way.
  • Fish Sauce Fried Chicken: This is the most expensive dish, but it's also the slowest to serve. The coating on the fried chicken is a bit thick, and the meat is somewhat dry and tough; the sauce’s flavor is mediocre, so I wouldn’t recommend it.
  • Thai Jasmine Rice: I wasn't very hungry today, so I only had a bowl. It’s good rice, not sticky at all.
  • Mango Sago (Google Maps five-star gift): This was complimentary, so it was in a small cup. It was freshly made and still a bit warm, with ingredients that were mushy and not too sweet.

Post-meal thoughts: The price for the dishes is on the higher side, but the staff's service attitude is quite friendly. Considering the quality of the dishes along with the nice decor, a reasonable Google Maps rating should be around 3.8 to 4.2 stars, not 4.9 stars. I suspect the restaurant might have slightly controlled the review content? We only discovered that there was a five-star drink giveaway when we got there, which left us a bit speechless.
