The flavor of the ramen is stable, with a moderate level of spiciness. The specially designed pentagon-shaped bowl and chopsticks add fun to the dining experience. The length of the noodles is also specially designed, showcasing unique attention to detail. The firmness of the noodles and the richness of the broth can be customized, resulting in a rich and smooth taste.
The restaurant is filled with a auspicious atmosphere, and the thoughtful design along with the sound of well wishes create a relaxed and pleasant dining environment. There are not many seats available, so it is necessary to wait in line.
The wait is approximately 40 minutes to 1 hour. The staff will occasionally come out to manage the crowd and organize the queue, and the process is orderly.
🍜 Ichiran Pass Rate Ramen Experience | Dazaifu Sando Store
📍 〒818-0117 Fukuoka Prefecture, Dazaifu City, Dazaifu 2-Chome 6-2
📅 09:00–19:00
When visiting Dazaifu in Fukuoka, apart from praying at Tenmangu Shrine, Ichiran's Pass Rate Ramen is a must-try. This branch is characterized by its pentagon design—not only are the ramen bowls pentagonal, but even the chairs, chopsticks, water cups, and plates follow the theme, symbolizing success and progress, making it perfect for students looking for a bit of good luck. Because of this, it is said that many Japanese parents bring their children here for a bowl as a ritual to pray for good exam results.
This time, I waited about an hour and ordered a basic ramen (¥980), white rice (¥250), and added green onions (¥130). After purchasing a ticket from the ordering machine, I filled out my flavor preference sheet. I selected the basic richness, light oil, normal garlic, lot of green onions, regular chashu, normal spiciness, and normal noodle hardness.
🍥 The broth is relatively light and refreshing; although it’s pork bone broth, it’s not heavy, which makes it quite enjoyable for me.
🍥 The noodles are thin and straight, with normal hardness being just right.
🍥 The chashu is tender, but the portion is small.
🍥 The added green onions are a good amount and pair well with the white rice to balance the richness.
Overall, the taste is not much different from regular Ichiran, but the store's atmosphere, design, and pentagon ritual feeling leave a strong impression. After finishing every drop, seeing the word "decided," I silently cheered for myself. I highly recommend this spot for students or friends who want to soak up the good vibes!
First, queue up, and when you reach the self-service ordering machine, use it to place your order. After receiving the ramen ticket, you will be given a paper to handwrite your choices for noodle firmness, broth richness, oil amount, whether you want green onions, spiciness level, and so on, allowing you to customize according to your preferences.

🍜 The only one in Japan! A must-have pentagon-shaped bowl to celebrate "passing" exams! No waiting in line for souvenirs, take it all home!
When you arrive in Dazaifu, Fukuoka, you'll immediately see the prominent Ichiran Ramen and the crowd waiting in line. Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is famous for praying for academic success, and the surrounding shops have launched various "passing" related lucky items.
The Japanese pronunciation of "pentagon" is similar to "passing," so Ichiran here cleverly uses this pun to create a pentagon-shaped bowl and chopsticks! When you order the "Passing Ramen" (980), they will say "You passed!" when the noodles are served! 😂
As for the flavor, it is of course as consistently delicious as the regular Ichiran ramen. I usually order spice level 2, which is roughly mild spicy in Taiwan, making it less greasy and making me want to finish it to see the words at the bottom of the bowl! 😂
In addition to the bowl's shape, there are actually many auspicious meanings in the restaurant, the explanations are shown in the photos!
