The drinks menu is similar to that of general shops, and the classic roasted milk tea has received positive reviews. The combination of black tea and roasted tea is particularly appealing to milk tea lovers. The seasonal limited strawberry star fruit Frappe, with its vanilla milk flavor paired with strawberry pulp, is slightly sour and sweet, making it quite refreshing.
Designed by Kengo Kuma, this Starbucks combines natural materials with a modern style, becoming a unique attraction along the approach to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. The architecture is full of artistic flair both inside and out. Even when taking out, the atmosphere remains unchanged.
The store often has long lines due to the large number of tourists. If you don't want to wait in line, you can choose to appreciate the architectural design. The indoor seating is almost full, so takeout is recommended.

Walking along the approach to Dazaifu Tenmangu, I was drawn in by the recommended sign at Starbucks and immediately spotted the Strawberry Frappuccino 🍓, so I ordered a cup of the seasonal limited flavor.
This cup, "Vanilla Cream Frappuccino (with added strawberry pieces)," has a vanilla milk base complemented by the slightly sour and sweet strawberry pieces, making it perfectly refreshing and not too rich—ideal for the slightly warm weather 🍧.
The indoor seating was almost fully occupied, so I had to take it to go and enjoy it while strolling, which didn't diminish the overall atmosphere at all!
The drink itself costs 569 yen, with an additional 100 yen for the strawberry pieces, totaling 722 yen.
🏯 The building was designed by Kengo Kuma, featuring an eye-catching appearance with interwoven cedar wood, blending traditional and modern aesthetics—subtle yet striking. Almost everyone passing by stops to take a photo 📸.
After enjoying my drink, I continued up to pay my respects, and I felt all rosy and cheerful 🙏✨.
☕️ A building designed by Kengo Kuma, blending traditional and modern with natural materials!
On the path to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, just past the torii gate, you'll see this Starbucks, bustling with people coming in and out. Inside, the place is packed with a long line of customers.
If you search online for attractions at Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, this Starbucks will definitely appear. At first glance, you can tell it's a building designed by the famous architect "Kengo Kuma," featuring interwoven wooden slats that extend from the outside of the store all the way to the innermost part. If you visit during the flowering season, there is even a plum tree in the backyard, a symbol of Dazaifu!
The beverage menu inside is the same as in regular stores. On this day, I happened to be collecting points, so I ordered my favorite classic roasted milk tea, which is a milk tea made with black tea and hojicha roasted tea. I always ask for less syrup. Milk tea lovers must try it at least once!
The modern Starbucks doesn't look out of place on the path lined with old buildings. Those who like Kengo Kuma's architecture must make a pilgrimage, and it is well worth a visit for anyone to appreciate!
The store also has Fukuoka-exclusive products. However, because there are tourists from various countries, this store is truly packed. If you don't want to queue, you can just enjoy the architecture!
