When it comes to Tainan black rolls, many people think of "Ah Hui Black Roll" first. In 2024, it was even recommended by Bib Gourmand; the business is surprisingly good, with the area near the sports center buzzing with activity.

But to be honest, I might not really understand the appeal. Overall, it feels quite ordinary; the shrimp rolls are the best item, crispy on the outside and fresh on the inside. However, the options for oden are mostly common combinations, and the flavors don’t hold any surprises. The sausage part has too much fat, the intestine is lacking in flavor, but the outer layer is grilled to a slight crisp, which is a plus. The black rolls and black roll slices taste the same; it's just the shape that differs.

For many Tainan locals, this might be a nostalgic old flavor full of memories. But for me, it’s just an old shop that is more famous than surprising. Having tried it once, I feel satisfied knowing what it’s like.
