Stinky tofu, braised intestines, and duck blood spicy miso ramen showcase the creative fusion of Taiwan and Japan. The rich miso broth is complemented by the stinky tofu, which is soaked in juices, perfectly blending its fermented aroma with the soup. The intestines are soft and chewy without any off-flavors, the duck blood is smooth and tender, and the noodles have a great chewy texture, providing a dual enjoyment for both the taste buds and the eyes.
The interior maintains a Japanese artisan style, with counter seating that provides a focused dining environment for tasting ramen, and old slogans add a touch of nostalgic charm.
The ordering process must be completed at the ordering machine first, and then you can line up.
The "Ghost Gold Stick" West Gate branch is located on Section 1 of Zhonghua Road in the Wanhua District, about a five-minute walk from the Ximen MRT Station. Unlike the Zhongshan main store, the West Gate branch offers many unique items available only at this location, attracting food enthusiasts who are eager to try them.
Today I enjoyed the stinky tofu, large intestine, and duck blood spicy miso ramen, priced at 340 NT dollars.
The stinky tofu and large intestine duck blood spicy miso ramen:
This ramen is not only exclusive to the West Gate branch, but it is also available only on Saturdays. If you want to try it, you need to regularly check Ghost Gold Stick's Facebook page to confirm its availability.
As soon as the bowl was presented, I could smell the rich aroma of fermented beans and the thick miso broth, accompanied by the stimulating scent of Sichuan pepper and chili.
The broth is the classic Ghost Gold Stick miso base – rich, fragrant, and uniquely spicy. This time I chose regular spiciness and numbness, and just one bite allows you to sense the layers of spices. In my younger days, I tried the super spicy and super numbing options, and all I can say is, "Those were mistakes made in my youth."
The stinky tofu has soaked up the broth; every bite brings forth a strong fermented aroma combined with the spicy miso soup. The tofu's pores have fully absorbed the broth, making it moist and tender on the inside, while the outside has a slight chewiness. What impressed me the most was the overflowing bean sweetness. Visually and olfactorily, you can clearly perceive the spicy numbness, but on the palate, it offers a delightful sweetness from the fermented beans.
The large intestine was processed very cleanly, without any strange odors, and had a soft yet slightly chewy texture, perfectly complementing the rich broth. The duck blood was somewhat refined in size; while it may not be particularly outstanding, its texture remained smooth and delicious.
Ghost Gold Stick's noodles are consistently a harder style of Japanese ramen; the thick and chewy noodles perfectly capture the richness of the broth.
Overall, this is a creatively unique Japanese-Taiwanese fusion item launched by a well-known ramen shop. The ordering process involves going inside to place an order at the machine and then queuing at the entrance with the receipt. The interior maintains a consistent Japanese craftsmanship style, and the counter-style seating allows for focused enjoyment of the ramen. The old slogans on the table always bring a smile no matter how many times you see them.
Highly recommended for everyone!
