【Foodholic Niko @ Taipei】
This was actually my first time eating at "Meat More Hotpot"! I remember that for a while, Meat More was quite popular, but since I really don't enjoy hotpot, it never made it onto my radar. However, hotpot is indeed a great companion for enjoying vegetables and meat, so I decided to give Meat More a try.
The Zhongshan North store in Taipei is located near Taipei Station and is about a 7-minute walk away. To be honest, the interior space isn't very big, but it appears quite tidy and clean.
I came for dinner around 7 PM on a Friday without a reservation and was able to be seated right away, without any waiting. The staff were quite friendly, and when we settled the bill, they even gave us tokens to play the claw machine, where we actually managed to snag a pack of cookies!
P.S. However, considering they do charge a service fee, during our hotpot meal, no staff members proactively came to help refill the soup, so that’s something I hope they can improve.
🍽️ Ordering Method
Everyone selects one soup and one portion of meat. As for various vegetables, sides, noodles, hot and cold drinks, and ice cream, it’s all self-service and all-you-can-eat, making it quite suitable for those with a big appetite—definitely don't have to worry about going hungry.
🍲 Soup Base
We chose the Vitality Vegetable Soup for $19 and the Special Spicy Soup for $65, and we could choose to use a dual pot for both soup bases. I liked both of the soups—while the Vitality Soup is light, it’s not tasteless, and the Spicy Soup has a slight fragrance from the Sichuan pepper, but the spiciness is quite approachable.
🥓 Meats
We selected the Energetic Bacon Pork for $349 and the Taiwanese Black Pork for $439. The bacon pork has more fat, but I personally love fatty meat, so I enjoyed it a lot. The black pork tends to crumble when picked up, and there's more lean meat, which I think is just okay.
🥬 Vegetables and Hotpot Ingredients
There’s quite a variety to choose from, with a balance of whole foods and hotpot ingredients at about a 1:1 ratio. You can pick whatever you want, which is great for those who are watching their diet. I especially want to recommend the mackerel fish paste, which I don’t often see in other hotpot places—I ended up eating three of them!
☕️ Drinks and Desserts
There are two ice drink machines and two hot drink machines; additionally, there are slushie machines, ice cream, and soft serve. In short, you won’t have to worry about not eating enough.
It costs less than $500 per person, which I find quite reasonable. The food performance was also good, and I would be willing to visit again.
