This time I visited the Xingdian restaurant on Fenghuang Avenue in Longgang, Shenzhen. The first impression was that there was a wide variety of options; the menu is very rich, featuring everything from Hong Kong-style steak, rice noodles, fried noodles, and fried rice to curry rice and dim sum, making it a type of composite Hong Kong-style restaurant.

The curry rice I ordered was very satisfying as soon as it was served, with a thick sauce enveloping the rice. The flavor leaned towards Hong Kong style—rich but not overwhelming—making it a perfect accompaniment to plain rice. The fried beef rice noodles were equally impressive, delivering that characteristic 'wok hei' (breath of the wok). The beef slices were tender, and the rice noodles did not get mushy, marking it as above-average fried rice noodles. The boiled beef dish was a bit spicier, with a strong numbing and spicy aroma that paired perfectly with rice, delivering a high overall satisfaction.

In contrast, their steak was somewhat conflicting. The tomahawk steak had a loose texture, feeling like it was not a single piece (you can judge from the photo), and cutting into it didn't provide a solid mouthfeel, leading to thoughts of, "Is this really normal?"

On the other hand, the ribeye steak felt more standard, with texture and flavor well-executed. Both had steak sauce for seasoning, and to be honest, the price is quite cheap; it’s already a good deal to enjoy big pieces of beef at this price point. However, I couldn't help but doubt whether this steak had some sort of artificial enhancement.

Overall, the Chinese dishes at Xingdian restaurant are definitely worth trying. I highly recommend both the curry rice and the fried beef rice noodles, as they are affordable and taste great.
