The meal includes a roasted apple beef burger and spicy cheese fries. The fries are crispy and tasty when eaten hot, but they are inconvenient to eat when paired with the meat sauce and cheese. The burger has a unique roasted apple flavor, but the overall taste is relatively mild.
Title: A Student's Review—What to Eat
This time, I'm introducing Root Kitchen, an American burger place located a 4-minute walk from Xiaobitan MRT, which has a Google Maps rating of 4.8 stars.
Let's unbox it this time!
★ Meal:
Grilled Apple Beef Burger $185
★ Thoughts:
The thin fries should definitely be eaten hot!
They are crispy and fragrant when warm.
Drizzled with meat sauce and cheese, it's pretty good on its own.
However, when paired with fries, it doesn’t feel like a dipping sauce; it resembles the meat sauce poured over rice like in Thai basil stir-fry.
Honest opinion, in terms of convenience for eating, it’s really not practical.
You end up having to use your hands or a spoon.
But the fries are delicious! Definitely worth ordering, but they turn greasy when cooled down.
Grilled Apple Beef Burger:
It has about one-third of a grilled apple, with a flavor reminiscent of McDonald's apple pie filling.
At first, it was novel, and the cheese sauce was wonderfully aromatic.
But towards the end, the sauce was mostly absorbed by the bun, and the overall flavor became too mild.
The beef flavor and saltiness weren't very strong either.
I won't be ordering this next time.
But I’m willing to try other flavors.
★ Waiting Time:
About 5 minutes.
