This time, I went to "Kushikatsu Daruma," where you can fully enjoy Osaka's famous kushikatsu, located just 4 minutes on foot from Umeda Station at Whity Umeda B1F!
Kushikatsu has been around since 1929, and the one thing that hasn't changed over the years is the "taste" that has been passed down through four generations. This consistency through time makes "Kushikatsu Daruma" a cornerstone of flavor, no matter when or where.
The Commitment of "Kushikatsu Daruma"
Sauce
In 1929, Yoshie Momono, the creator of "Ganso Kushikatsu Daruma", introduced this dark brown sauce to the world from a corner of Osaka's Shinsekai. For over 70 years, the goal has simply been to hear customers say, "This is delicious!", leading to relentless development resulting in a satisfying taste. The Daruma style is to dip into the sauce generously. To ensure that other customers can enjoy the sauce too, double-dipping is prohibited!
Texture
First, there's a crispy crunch! Then, a nice chew! This unique texture defines Daruma's kushikatsu. The coating is finely textured so it doesn't irritate the mouth, and it’s appropriately sized, making it easy for women and children to enjoy. The sauce clings just right; it hugs without overwhelming the coating's texture.
Oil
Daruma’s special original oil is made from head oil. With no distinctive greasiness, it allows you to eat a lot without feeling heavy in your stomach, which makes it pleasant even for those who typically dislike fried foods. The triad of sauce, coating, and oil creates the unique flavor of "Kushikatsu Daruma."
This rich history and dedication explains why this unchanging flavor has been loved by the public.
This time, I ordered:
【Kushikatsu】
Inside, the neon lighting created a festive atmosphere which made it a fun place to enjoy delicious kushikatsu! The staff were energetic and the overall vibe was very cheerful.
Be sure to enjoy the traditional coating, special oil, and sauce that have been cherished since 1929 in Shinsekai!
Once again, I'm fully satisfied!
Thank you for the meal.
