The dough of the scallion pancake is relatively fluffy, and the filling is rich, especially the mixed flavor. Paired with basil, it balances the greasiness, and the portions are ample at a reasonable price.
The atmosphere on Yongkang Street is lively, with a fast queueing speed, attracting many foreign tourists. The menu offers multiple language options, which is considerate and thoughtful.
The service of freshly made food requires a wait, but it offers fresh meals, attentive service, and a menu available in multiple languages.
I heard this is a popular store on Yongkang Street, and when I went, there was really a long queue, but the movement was quite fast and bearable. It's no wonder it's a favorite spot for many foreigners; their menu offers options in Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean, which is very thoughtful.
They have eight types of dishes, and I ordered the No. 6 combo: scallion pancake + egg + ham + cheese + basil, with a bit of spiciness. When I got the scallion pancake, the portion size felt quite sufficient. The pancake itself was a bit fluffy, and I found the filling to be quite rich. Essentially, all the items in this combination are things I really enjoy, and the addition of a little basil helped balance out any potential greasiness. I felt quite full after finishing it, and combined with a drink, it could easily serve as a full meal for me, which was very satisfying. Plus, considering the prices in Taipei, the cost of this scallion pancake felt like a great deal.
Previously very popular on IG, the Yongkang Street delicacies are still attracting quite a crowd during peak hours. You have to be patient as they make it fresh on the spot. There are various flavors to choose from, making it perfect for afternoon tea or a light snack – affordable street food!
