Reason for giving five stars: If this were a blind taste test, I would have guessed around 25 or 30, but the actual score is only 15... is that too exaggerated? (It surprisingly has a lot of quality and isn’t just casually made. This kind of relaxed place is definitely worth supporting when passing by.)

Here’s my ranking from this time. I greedily bought a bunch and ate them over several rounds (yes, I spent all day eating red bean cakes 🙂‍↕️). I originally thought that at such a low price, it would just be the common type found outside, where the filling is just squeezed in. But I was super surprised when I tried them! You can really taste the quality in several varieties, all with a pleasant texture that makes the flavors not monotonous.

  1. Red Bean 🫘

    • You can tell how real this red bean filling is just by looking at the picture! There are so many red beans that I almost get a mild case of trypophobia. I love red beans that have a bit of granularity but aren’t too hard, sweet but not overly so, and importantly, without that annoying grainy feeling. In short, this flavor is a must-try.
  2. Meat Floss Salad

    • Actually, I was worried the salad dressing might be too heavy, but it turns out the dressing in this wheel cake plays a very minor role and doesn’t overshadow the meat floss at all 😇. It has a lovely aroma but isn’t greasy. The meat floss is generous, and if you like savory flavors, you should definitely try this one.
  3. Taro

    • This has big chunks of taro texture in the taro paste. The owner is really selling this too cheaply 🥹. Such a filling would easily sell for 40 elsewhere.
  4. Peanut

  5. Sesame

    • The peanut and sesame options are on the sweeter side, but the aroma is very rich. Just looking at the pictures, you can guess how delicious they are 🥳.

(The top five are items I will definitely repurchase, while the following depend on my mood.)

  1. Chocolate

  2. Matcha

    • Although matcha and chocolate don’t have a granulated texture, their flavors are complex. You can clearly sense the bittersweetness of the chocolate and the sweetness of the matcha; there’s no chemical or artificial taste – perfect for an afternoon snack.
  3. Brown Sugar Mochi

  4. Cream

    • Normally, I love custard, but surprisingly, I put the cream series at the end. Brown sugar mochi is also a combination of cream and mochi. This one is very similar to what you find outside, with a sticky custard filling, but the flavor isn’t to my taste.
