I've heard for a long time that Hokkaido's soup curry is super delicious, far beyond what Taiwan's Silver Rabbit can compare to. This time, I finally have the chance to try it!

There are many restaurants selling soup curry in Hokkaido, and each has its own unique flavor. Originally, I wanted to eat at Garaku, which had previously opened a branch in Taiwan. However, the line was too long, and this place has decent reviews as well. It originated near Hokkaido University and is also closer to where we were staying, so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant is on the second floor, and luckily, we only had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated with just two other groups ahead of us!

To order, you first choose a main dish from the dazzling array of options, then pick one of five soup bases (which are: basic tomato soup, popular coconut soup, Japanese-style soup, shrimp soup, and soybean milk shrimp soup). I finally opted for the special meal exclusive to the Otaru branch, which includes either a hamburger patty or grilled chicken, plus a Hokkaido sausage, with shrimp soup as the base. The rice portion was normal, coming to a total of 2,050 yen.

I have to say, soup curry is really photogenic! The colorful ingredients look mouth-watering in photos, making it perfect for those who love to take pictures of their food. But it's not just about looks; the curry itself is truly a notch above Taiwan's Silver Rabbit. It's incredible, and I can't quite explain the difference, but it's really delicious. This might have something to do with the quality of the ingredients in Hokkaido. If anyone knowledgeable can tell me the difference, please leave a comment! 🤣
(The hamburger patty is very soft, yet retains the texture and juice of the meat, delicious! The sausage is a bit more ordinary, seasoned with rich spices and having ample meat juice. It's good, but doesn't pair particularly well with the soup curry.)

I feel like I need to eat at a few more soup curry places in the next few days!
