AI Spot Summary

The broth of the shrimp ramen at "Men Palace Urashima" is rich and free of any fishy taste, offering a complex flavor. It is paired with tender char siu and a half-boiled egg, resulting in a satisfying overall texture. Adding butter enhances the creamy and milky flavor, but the original taste is already very smooth.

Located behind the Cultural Affairs Bureau in Hsinchu City, "Urad Island" is hidden in a small alley. I walked there, and I'm not sure if there are parking spaces nearby. If you're driving, I suggest researching the surrounding alleys first or simply walking, as it is the safest option.

This time, I ordered one of their signature dishes, "Urad Island Shrimp Ramen." Honestly, I had eaten shrimp-flavored ramen at another place in the past, and I was scared off by the fishy taste of the broth. Three years later, I hesitated to try it again.

To my surprise, this bowl was quite agreeable. The broth was rich in shrimp flavor but had no fishiness, showcasing a deep yet refreshing and well-layered flavor that didn't feel burdensome 🦐.

The chashu was also excellent, whether it was the pork or chicken chashu, both were tender, juicy, and melted in your mouth. The soft-boiled egg appeared slightly overcooked on the outside, but the center was still runny and tender, with a light soy sauce flavor—very impressive!

Interestingly, I also added butter this time, choosing to incorporate it halfway through the soup. After adding butter, the broth became richer and smoother, with an added layer of creamy aroma. However, the original flavor was already quite pleasant, so adding butter is a matter of personal preference.

In summary, "Urad Island's" shrimp ramen is perfect for those trying shrimp-based broth for the first time. The broth is cleanly refined, and the chashu and soft-boiled egg perform wonderfully. Adding butter also offers an upgraded experience. This bowl has dispelled my fears of shrimp ramen! Quite good!
