The restaurant specializes in seafood, and the clam grill and Penghu squid oil sticks have received positive reviews. However, the Hiroshima oyster garlic risotto and the Typhoon Shelter stir-fried seafood have garnered mixed reactions due to their heavy seasoning and the use of synthetic scallops.
The restaurant is located near Hsinchu Train Station, with a smaller space and tighter seating, but it has sufficient air conditioning indoors, creating an overall comfortable atmosphere.
The restaurant has just opened, and there are quite a few customers, so seating requires waiting on-site, but the waiting time is not long. Overall, the service is acceptable, with no particular mention of the performance of the staff.
Located on Section 2 of Zhonghua Road,
a newly opened seafood tavern near Hsinchu Train Station
which can be reached from Taoyuan.
I pass by here every day and look forward to trying their clams, called “Bèi Hē Hē”!
I came to eat right when they opened.
There are 2 tables outside, but it is quite hot in the summer.
Those who can sit outside are pretty strong.
The indoor space isn't large, accommodating about 20 seats.
It feels quite crowded in between the seats.
There were many customers when it just opened, so I had to wait for a table on-site.
Fortunately, I was seated in less than 15 minutes.
I was arranged to sit by the entrance,
but the air conditioning inside is very sufficient,
so it’s not hot.
They have both main dishes and small bites.
There’s a fridge with various beers.
However, their signature dish, “Full of Clams,” comes with a minimum spend on drinks.
“Full of Clams” $160
This dish is ordered at every table.
One order per table.
The plate is quite large and there are many clams,
but the clams themselves are not very big.
There is not much seasoning,
with the focus on the fresh taste of the clams.
If you like clams, you will feel very satisfied.
“Hiroshima Oyster Garlic Risotto” $240
The ingredients are worth the price.
There are three fried oysters.
Pepper is used quite heavily.
The risotto is a Taiwanese style and has a strong garlic flavor.
Personally, I don’t like it.
“Typhoon Shelter Stir-Fry of Three Delicacies” $310
This time it’s fish, shrimp, and imitation scallops(?).
I think if you’re focusing on seafood, it would be better not to use imitation scallops.
It might look better or be a cost consideration(?)
Pepper is again used quite heavily.
The fish and shrimp are perfectly fried.
“Penghu Squid with Fried Dough” $160
You can really taste the squid.
The fried dough is not greasy.
Delicious!
Since it just opened and there’s a lobster promotion, there are more people.
After a while, I don’t think it'll be necessary to line up.
You can come for the clams,
but personally, I’m not very fond of the other dishes.
