I ordered shrimp paired with beef rice. The rice is very soft, and the lemon squeezed onto it enhances the flavor, creating an irresistible combination of salty and sour. The texture of the beef is particularly excellent; when you take a bite, it releases a strong flavor. However, the shrimp is surrounded by its shell, making it a bit challenging to separate the shrimp meat from the shell directly. In the end, I enjoyed crispy fries sprinkled with seaweed powder.

Next on our itinerary in Okinawa, we visited Kouri Island.

There is a very famous dish here known as shrimp rice.
Almost all tourists who come here make a special trip to buy a bowl of shrimp rice to enjoy!
What kind of magic does this dish possess that attracts so many people to queue up for a long time just to find a seat for a meal?
So, we decided to come and try it for ourselves!

But everyone should pay attention to their business hours.
This shrimp rice place does not stay open for dinner.
It typically closes around the late afternoon, just before dinner time.
So, friends wanting to enjoy shrimp rice should definitely keep an eye on the time!

Additionally, since this is a tourist hotspot, the crowds are truly overwhelming.
Even though this restaurant has several floors, the demand still exceeds supply.
After ordering, you need to quickly find a seat to sit down and eat!

This restaurant also provides machines for automatic ordering, so there’s no need to go to the counter to order manually.
The machines support multiple languages, so you don’t have to worry if you can’t read Chinese!

Even if you have placed your order quickly, you still need to wait a while for your number to be called for meal pickup.
I remember waiting for about 20 minutes before getting to eat!
Due to the large crowd, we ended up sitting in the rooftop area—eating shrimp rice in an outdoor setting.

Thankfully, the weather in Okinawa during this season isn’t too hot, otherwise eating outdoors would be quite uncomfortable! 😂😂😂

The shrimp rice here generally has several combinations to choose from,
So you can pick what kind of shrimp rice you want based on your preferences that day!

When ordering, you can choose the flavor, whether to add butter or spice.
In short, it’s divided into combinations of with or without butter and with or without spice, making four total options.

The base flavor includes garlic, which isn’t optional.

Moreover, this restaurant also offers other food items, like fries and drinks, that you can pair with your meal.
However, the main reason you come here is still to eat their shrimp rice!
If you’re visiting Kouri Island for the first time, as a fresh tourist,
I definitely recommend coming here to see what all the fuss is about!

After eating, I really felt it had its own uniqueness!
As expected, it’s worth trying!
I personally recommend you to order a portion and give it a taste,
After all, the portion size isn’t too large! 😂

Furthermore, the view from this place is quite lovely.
Because the buildings are taller, the dining area on the top floor offers a great view.
It’s also very photogenic, so whether you plan to eat or not, it’s worth checking out!

👉 As a local guide, of course, I ordered the spicy buttery garlic shrimp rice.
The box it comes in is very cute!
The graphics on top are quite amusing too—just receiving this rice box makes me really happy.

When you open it, you’ll see two small mounds of rice,
About half the size of a normal bowl in Taiwan.
For an adult male, this amount of rice should be more than enough.
You’ll also find about four or five shrimp inside,
The flavor depends on how you ordered it.

If you ordered the spicy version, you’ll see distinct red spicy powder on top,
And the buttery flavor is cooked directly with the shrimp.

However, I feel that even if you order spicy, the flavor isn’t extremely strong.
If you choose the buttery version, you will definitely notice the rich buttery aroma!

So if you’re not against butter, I recommend at least getting it for that delightful flavor.
Overall, the shrimp rice becomes very fragrant with the butter.

The entire dish has a wonderful texture;
The rice itself is somewhat ordinary,
But the shrimp are incredibly tender and bouncy!
With the buttery aroma, I found the shrimp rice to be quite delicious.

The shrimp portion is generous too;
There are at least four or five pieces in there!
So I think this food is pretty worthwhile and tasty,
Every box’s presentation looks quite appetizing, making it very photogenic!

Hence, I think the food here is pretty nice!

⭐️ Drink section
They also offer a variety of specialty drinks.
If you want some soft drinks or juices, they have that here too!
You might feel a bit parched while eating,
So ordering a drink here seems like a great idea!

⭐️ Atmosphere section
The atmosphere inside the store is generally nice.
The overall space planning has a design sense to it,
But due to the high number of tourists,
The area can feel quite cramped.

Besides the indoor space,
The outdoor area is also filled with tables and chairs,
But it still can’t accommodate all the guests.
It’s evident that this place is just too popular!

If you can’t sit inside,
I’d recommend heading to the rooftop dining area,
But, of course, avoid visiting during summer! 😂😂😂
Otherwise, eating under the sun on the rooftop would be quite challenging.
The view from the rooftop is actually very nice.
If you visit at a time other than summer,
With the sea breeze while eating shrimp rice, the atmosphere would be fantastic!

⭐️ Service section
This restaurant offers a self-service ordering system,
And it also includes multiple languages for ordering!
So there’s no need to worry about language barriers.

However, due to the many tourists,
Even using the self-service ordering machine requires a wait.
Even if you quickly place your order,
You still need to wait for your meal to be ready before picking it up.

In this regard, the store doesn’t provide any particularly thoughtful service,
So everyone just waits patiently with their number tags.
At the same time, you can quickly look for your seat!
Find a spot to sit down before your shrimp rice arrives!

If the restaurant could better plan how to seat guests and manage the dining order,
I think it would be more considerate!

⭐️ Price section
The price for a bowl of shrimp rice is about 1500 to 1800 yen.
Converted into New Taiwan Dollars,
It’s actually a bit expensive.
After all, the portion size isn’t too large,
But considering this is a tourist area and the famous shrimp rice,
Plus Japan’s consumption price differences,
I think this price is fairly average.

So, it’s still acceptable for a visit!

Even though this is a place primarily for tourists,
I believe the food quality is still quite good.
For the shrimp rice,
Although the rice itself is somewhat ordinary,
The shrimp’s quality is definitely sincere,
And the flavor is quite fragrant.

While the portion size isn’t large,
The level of deliciousness and presentation is certainly there.

Moreover, the rooftop dining environment is quite lovely,
It’s truly a great spot for sightseeing!
