The 92k Weekend Diner is located about 92 kilometers along Highway 2, hence the name. The first time I tasted such fresh sea urchin was truly impressive.
Today's meal included Okinawan sea grape rice bowl, purple sea urchin, steamed black mantis shrimp, salted sea snail, grilled bamboo shoots, Okinawan-style vinegar-marinated bitter melon with pineapple, and a dessert set with freshly squeezed American lemonade, totaling approximately 2500 TWD.
Okinawan Sea Grape Rice Bowl:
A generous portion of sea grapes was placed in the bowl, with a fresh top shell and fish roe in the center, giving me a feeling of being in Okinawa. It was fresh and delicious.
Purple Sea Urchin:
Weighing it first, the restaurant will bring a live sea urchin in front of the customer to weigh it. Once it’s on the table, the rich creamy texture is undeniable; there's no doubt about the deliciousness of this sea urchin. The sea urchin even moves! 😅
Steamed Black Mantis Shrimp:
Weighing it again, I won’t go into details, but the meat and freshness of the mantis shrimp were indescribably delicious. Additionally, it is much easier to eat than regular shrimp and crabs, which makes it one of the most appreciated aspects of this kind of seafood.
Salted Sea Snail:
The official name is "dōrishell", commonly known as small top shell. Compared to the previous two weighted dishes, this one is indeed not as memorable, but its taste is still excellent. The meat is springy and the salted freshness is very appetizing.
Grilled Bamboo Shoots:
Grilled to perfection, they had just the right amount of saltiness, making them very suitable to pair with rice.
Okinawan-style Vinegar-marinated Bitter Melon with Pineapple:
A combination of salty and sweet, plus the acidity of the vinegar for balance, this dish is also quite authentically Okinawan.
Dessert Set:
A randomly selected Blue Ribbon dessert that was really delicious, but nothing in the seafood realm was as impressive; but that’s not the dessert’s fault! 😂
Freshly squeezed American Lemonade:
A refreshing lemonade drink that is thirst-quenching and suitable to whet the appetite before a meal or to finish off after.
Overall, I will definitely come back, as there are many more dishes I want to try. Watching the sun rise from a dimly lit sea to a bright, deep blue is truly enjoyable.
However, the restaurant operates on an all-reservation basis. Since the Ocean Music Festival was at the North Coast, we took a gamble and went to the door just before it opened at 11 o'clock, directly asking if all the seats for today had been sold. If not, we were willing to wait until a certain time. Luckily, there were two seats left, so we successfully got seated! 🥲

The restaurant has both outdoor and indoor seating, and after eating, you can walk outside to the small boardwalk to take pictures. The decor features a Japanese style with a touch of Okinawa.
The restaurant dog, Wang Lai, is friendly and welcoming, while another, which is a bit fierce, is kept inside and not put outside for people to pet, so no worries! 😂
