Cheong Kei Noodle House (Loja Sopa da Fita Cheong Kei)
｜Michelin recommended, but we found it just okay

This noodle shop was spotted while passing through Macau. After checking, I found out it has been recommended by Michelin for many years, so I thought I’d give it a try. Overall, I felt the value for money was low and it didn't meet our expectations.

We ordered:
• Signature shrimp noodles MOP 42
• Beef brisket noodles MOP 42
• Wonton noodles MOP 42
• Jiangnan pig’s trotter MOP 50
• Oyster sauce vegetables MOP 20

The tossed noodles came with a bowl of soup, which had a noticeable shrimp flavor and was quite good. The noodles themselves were handmade, with a nice chewiness, but the seasoning was on the salty and oily side, becoming a bit overwhelming towards the end, especially with the beef brisket and pig's trotter, where the sauce was heavy enough to overpower the ingredients' flavor.

The shrimp noodle dish had plenty of shrimp powder, but the aroma wasn’t particularly strong. The wontons were average, with a thicker skin but generous filling, yet nothing spectacular. The saltiness of the pig’s trotter was too high, and we left it unfinished halfway through.

The environment has the typical old noodle shop style, with cramped tables and chairs and slippery floors. Service was average. Overall, it seems more suitable for those wanting to make a pilgrimage, a one-time visit is fine, but I wouldn’t want to go back.
