This time, I visited "Funawaka Cafe," located just a 1-minute walk from Asakusa Station! Since its establishment in the Meiji period, this cafe has been loved by people of all ages for over a century, featuring the traditional wagashi (Japanese sweets) from Funawa.

"Funawaka Cafe" has been cherished for over 100 years, founded in 1902 (Meiji 35). They continue to uphold the spirit of wagashi as envisioned by the founder Kōbayashi Wakasuke, refining their techniques while inheriting tradition through the ages, using high-quality natural ingredients, and striving to produce top-notch wagashi.

According to the information, it opened in 1902 (Meiji 35) at the current address: 1-22-10 Asakusa, Taito City, Tokyo, as "Funawa," specializing in selling sweet potato yokan, anko balls, chestnut steamed yokan, and ren yokan.

The signature menu item, "Sweet Potato Yokan," is a simple yokan made from sweet potatoes, sugar, and salt, without any colorings, preservatives, or fragrances, allowing you to enjoy the natural flavor, reminiscent more of the taste of sweet potatoes than a traditional yokan.

Additionally, the "Anko Balls" are colorful and cute in appearance. They are wagashi made with naturally flavored anko, wrapped in agar jelly that pops and rolls around in your mouth. There are six flavors to enjoy: red bean, white kidney bean, matcha, strawberry, coffee, and mandarin orange, so you can find your favorite!

At "Funawaka Cafe," you can enjoy popular wagashi and original sweets that can only be tasted there. They offer a variety of sweet potato sweets, making it a must-visit cafe for sweet potato lovers.

The menu items I ordered this time:
【Sweet Potato Mont Blanc】
The cream with a hint of liquor paired perfectly with the sweet potato yokan, striking an exquisite balance between Japanese and Western styles. As I continued eating, the texture of the sweet potato sticks and feuilletine inside added an accent, creating a deliciously new sensation of Mont Blanc that I had never experienced before!

【Sweet Potato Yokan Soft Pudding】
This luxurious parfait allows you to enjoy sweet potato yokan in various forms: blocks of cut sweet potato yokan, sweet potato cream made from sweet potato paste and whipped cream, brown rice flakes, more sweet potato paste, whipped cream, sweet potato soft serve, fruits, and sweet potato chips. The combination of the chips' saltiness and the cream's sweetness was perfect.

Once again, Harapeko-chan is fully satisfied!
Thank you for the meal.
