This restaurant specializes in udon noodles, offering chewy cold noodles and refreshing plum soup noodles, showcasing the care and professionalism in their preparation.
I really love how Japan has specialized stores for everything; it just reflects a dedication to expertise! This shop is just that – specializing in udon noodles! Although there are different broth flavors and toppings, the star is definitely the udon noodles 🍜. Personally, I'm someone who really loves the chewy texture of udon, so when I saw the reviews for this place, I couldn't resist lining up! There are quite a few seats inside, but there are also many customers 🍴. If you hit peak dining times, you'll have to wait in line at the entrance. When I went, there was just one group ahead of me, so I waited for about 10 minutes before being seated – really lucky!
We ordered two types:
❤️ Cold dry udon noodles
I have to say that my friend’s choice was spot on. He chose udon that’s cooked and then chilled 🧊, paired with a sauce. The overall chewiness of the udon is even better than in the soup, and importantly, you can really taste the flavor of the udon itself! I truly admire the Japanese attention to detail in preparation; they only used a bit of fish sauce and green onion to bring out the flavor!
❤️ Udon noodles with plum broth
I ordered this dish because other broth options are available in Taiwan. Of course, the flavor will be different, but I was even more curious about how the famous Japanese plum would taste when added to the broth with udon noodles. Personally, I found it to be even more appetizing; it might be a tactic by the Japanese to encourage us to order more dishes… However, I did feel that eating udon this way, even when full, didn’t leave me feeling overly stuffed or uncomfortable! It’s refreshing and light – I actually really enjoyed it!
Overall, I highly recommend everyone to try this udon shop and experience the local craftsmanship. The restaurant is also very easy to find, located near the famous Senso-ji Temple, so if you’re out shopping, you'll most likely pass by it! Enjoy a bowl of hot or cold udon noodles before going to pray – it’ll definitely bring you more luck!
