At the entrance of the South Airport Night Market, a small stall named "Sister Ying's Brown Sugar Pearl Fresh Milk" displays a striking banner: "Night Market Champion." Such a title inevitably makes one stop in their tracks. Even though I usually don’t go to night markets specifically for bubble tea, this time I decided to investigate due to this accolade.

The sweetness is just right, making it a relatively smooth drink. However, the pearls have a softer texture, lacking in elasticity and chewiness; the soul of pearl milk tea lies in the pearls themselves. When biting down, there’s no bouncy feedback, and instead, the texture is somewhat soft and sticky with no chewiness, making the overall drink feel rather bland. While it has a traditional style, in today’s diverse hand-shaken beverage market, this kind of texture struggles to stand out.

Perhaps it was the allure of the "Champion" sign that raised my expectations too high, leading to a slight disappointment after taking a sip. If you are someone who enjoys traditional flavors, a strong brown sugar taste, and prefers softer pearls, you might find this drink to be a classic version. But for me, it’s just an "okay" bubble tea that doesn’t leave a lasting impression.

This is the last post about Nanchiang Night Market, and I found this drink shop with good reviews on Google! The comments mostly recommend the No. 1 brown sugar pearl fresh milk.

The store has a large pot of pearls and grass jelly!

What’s special here is that their price list separates the prices for drinks with ice and those without, with non-ice items being 5 NT dollars more expensive.

I ordered the shop's most famous item. They have a notice stating that they use Guoquan fresh milk and guarantee no added water!

After receiving the drink, the shop reminded me to shake it before drinking. The pearls are soft and mushy, and even mixed with milk and ice, they remained warm and soft!
The brown sugar flavor is strong! Quite sweet.

As for the milk, when the ice hasn't melted yet, you can really feel that there's no added water, but it seems like they put in too much ice, making it taste too cold after a while! It’s too diluted and lacks the creamy taste.

Even though they claim not to add water, adding too much ice seems like an indirect way of saving on milk 🤪. For someone like me, who usually drinks without ice, I wouldn’t order this again unless I try it hot in the future.
