Kaohsiung Thai Restaurant Old Shop - Hi Thai Bistro, located near Dayuanbai, has very authentic Thai decor that creates a good Thai atmosphere. In addition to Thai cuisine, it is also a bar, and it’s quite busy, so remember to make a reservation in advance.

We ordered the set meal for eight people for NT$4800, which included unlimited Thai jasmine rice. The rice was very fragrant and served in a special pot, adding to its authenticity. The dishes were mostly spicy, truly capturing the feel of Thailand; every dish was incredibly delicious with rice—I ended up having three bowls!

The curry chicken was very rich; it was the only dish that wasn’t spicy and actually had a hint of sweetness, making it perfect for friends who are not accustomed to spicy food. The chicken was tender and paired wonderfully with the curry sauce.

The tom yum soup was only sour but not spicy enough; it felt like it was missing a flavor. The other dishes were all up to par.
