The dishes at Wanli Xuan are rich and distinctive. The roasted duck has a crispy surface and tender meat, while the stir-fried duck bones have a strong flavor. The sakura shrimp pearl rice is full of aroma, and the sweet soup is rich and smooth, making the overall experience very satisfying.
The restaurant has an elegant decor, a comfortable environment, and ample space between tables. It offers various seating options and pays attention to detail, making it very suitable for family gatherings.
The staff is attentive, charging a tea fee for each person and providing refill services to maintain the temperature of the tea. Although the speed of serving the dishes could be improved, the overall service is pleasant.
[Taipei Shilin] Renaissance Restaurant
The decor of the Renaissance Hotel is quite impressive.
On the first floor, there is the Shilin Kitchen, Renaissance Restaurant, Tea Lab cafe, and bar.
That day, we used a "Renaissance Restaurant" four-person meal voucher purchased at a travel expo.
We had five people dining, and initially thought there wouldn’t be enough food, so we ordered two extra dishes and rice.
Later, we found out that there was a whole duck, prepared in two styles.
One part was served as sliced duck,
while the other part could be chosen to be made into soup or stir-fried duck bones.
The duck was much larger than what you would get at roadside shops!
Tea is charged at $80 per person.
It is recommended to choose just one type of tea to avoid crowding the table.
You can get free refills of tea, and a candle will be lit to keep it warm.
The restaurant’s environment is comfortable, with ample space between tables.
There are areas for four people on sofas, six-person round tables, and private rooms (two of them).
The minimum spending for a private room is $18,000 on weekdays and $20,000 on weekends.
Upon seating, you'll find tea cups and saucers, napkins, and utensils neatly arranged on the table.
Each person receives a pair of red serving chopsticks, which shows attention to detail.
It’s a suitable restaurant for dining with elders.

✨ Personal recommendation
◽ Roast Duck for Four People✨$3,999
(This meal combo is exclusive to the voucher and includes service charges.)
Renaissance Restaurant’s special collection: Four starters including passion fruit pickled vegetables (refreshing), sweet chestnuts (very sweet), goji berries with cloud ear mushrooms (Chinese medicinal aroma), and drunken chicken thigh (cold dish).
Renaissance Roast Duck✨: It comes with two baskets of pancake wrappers, shredded green onions, cucumber slices, and sauce. The sauce is slightly salty and lacks sweetness. The pancake wrappers are steamed to a chewy texture, and they pair nicely with the accompaniments. However, eating the roast duck on its own allows you to fully appreciate its deliciousness—it’s crispy on the outside and the meat is not dry, still tender even when cooled.
Pickled Vegetable Duck Soup or Stir-fried Duck Bones✨ (choose one): I highly recommend the stir-fried duck bones; it was the best I’ve ever had—full of flavor without being excessively salty, and there is plenty of meat—not just bone!
Stir-fried Seasonal Vegetables: We had to wait a while for this dish, and the table next to us that arrived later received their dishes earlier. We were initially looking forward to green vegetables, but we ended up with stir-fried cabbage with black fungus 😅 The stems of the cabbage had a raw, earthy taste.
Steamed Seasonal Delicacies with Golden Oil✨ (four servings): This dish is laid on a bed of soft tofu and topped with fish slices. It has a milder flavor and is fine on its own—the fish is very tender.
Sakura Shrimp with Traditional Pearl Rice✨ (four servings): The pearl rice is stir-fried and then steamed, very flavorful and slightly sticky, with fillings of sakura shrimp and squid, making it particularly aromatic due to being freshly made, so it takes a bit longer to serve.
Chef's Special Sweet Soup✨ (four bowls): The sweet soup of the day was white fungus soup. We chose it iced, and it’s the best white fungus sweet soup I’ve ever had! Rich and smooth, with perfect sweetness—not too overpowering (should be made with rock sugar).
◽ Golden Buckwheat Tea✨ $80 per person tea charge
The buckwheat tea is very fragrant and I highly recommend ordering this drink.
◽ Dry Pot Abalone with Beancurd and Fish Belly✨ $680
A rich dish containing abalone, fish fillets that are fried then boiled, egg tofu, beancurd skin, and seasonal vegetables. The fried fish has better flavor, while the other ingredients are fine on their own.
◽ Yushan Wine-flavored Grilled Pork Ribs✨ $580
After being served, there’s a small flame show at the table as the high-proof liquor is drizzled over the dish and ignited. It has a rich flavor and clear wine aroma! The sauce on the ribs has a slightly bitter taste reminiscent of dried plums, and the accompanying vegetables lock in a strong aroma of wine, perfect for pairing with white rice.
