This is the Andrew's Bakery (Taipa branch) located on Rua de Cunha in Macau, and it is one of the must-try classic Portuguese egg tarts in Macau.
This time we bought a box of 6 (MOP 65). There were quite a few people, but the line moved quickly, and we were able to get our tarts right away. The egg tarts were freshly baked, still hot to the touch, and taking a bite could actually burn your mouth.
The pastry is a classic flaky crust, crispy and rich in flavor. The filling is smooth, creamy, and full of egg flavor, not overly sweet; the sweetness is just right. Although the crust has a bit of an oily texture, it’s also what helps maintain its flakiness, making it quite enjoyable to have once in a while.
Overall, Andrew's egg tarts remain a classic in the egg tart scene of Macau—reliable and delicious. It’s definitely worth waiting in line to grab a box when you’re on Rua de Cunha.
