Located near Taipei Main Station, "GooDonut" is one of the most anticipated donut specialty shops to visit recently. The owner is 阿ken, an artist I really like! I originally hoped to meet him in person, but unfortunately, he wasn’t in the shop that day due to an event.
I arrived at the shop around 1:43 PM, and there was already a long line. I finally got my donuts at 3:56 PM after waiting more than two hours. Although the wait was over two hours, I felt it was worth it when I took my first bite. The biggest charm of GooDonut is the "eat on-site" experience; the freshly baked donuts are soft and slightly warm, paired with various fillings, creating a delightful texture. 🥯
Pistachio
First place! I have always loved pistachios. This filling features a rich pistachio cream aroma, with a hint of natural nut oils, and a smooth texture that isn't too sweet. It harmonizes perfectly with the soft donut. With each bite, you can taste the subtle creaminess and rich nut flavor. No wonder it's called "pistachio"; finishing it made me very happy. There was a bit too much powdered sugar on the surface, and I turned into a "white dress" after finishing while wearing black, but it didn’t affect the deliciousness at all—just a little extra brushing off of my clothes!
Custard
For me, this one was a bit too sweet. The filling is rich and smooth, but the sweetness was a bit overwhelming, and I started to feel a burden after a few bites. I probably won't choose this option again. Those who enjoy super sweet flavors might love it, but personally, I prefer lighter or nut-based flavors.
Chocolate
This is definitely a more sophisticated donut. It’s not the overly sweet cocoa sauce commonly found on the market; instead, it contains dark chocolate with a slight bitterness. It has a rich flavor without being greasy, and after finishing, it doesn’t leave you feeling heavy—instead, you’ll want another one. Chocolate lovers will definitely enjoy this one! 🍫
Peanut
I originally thought it was just plain peanut butter, but GooDonut surprisingly added crushed walnuts into the filling, adding texture and crunch. The strong peanut aroma paired with the nutty essence of walnuts was an unexpected delight, making this flavor the dark horse of the day. 🥜
Overall, there's a reason why people are willing to wait two hours for GooDonut's donuts: the dough is soft, and the fillings are substantial. I strongly recommend eating on-site because if you take them home and refrigerate them, the filling will solidify and taste a bit like ice cream. Friends said it was delicious, but I personally prefer the warm, soft texture straight out of the oven!
If you have time and don’t mind a bit of a wait, I really recommend trying GooDonut. Whether it's the rich pistachio or the more mature chocolate, both are worth a taste; you can choose custard or peanut based on personal preference. Next time, I hope to meet 阿ken in person!
