The Hanging Glacier Cafe

This is a seasonal lakeside café, and if you miss it, you'll have to wait until next season! The opening dates for 2024 are 06/01-10/06. It is currently closed for this year; please visit again after 01/30 next year!

The café is a wooden cabin built in a very European country style, with a large lakeside lodge in the back, featuring the same red-roof country style. The café is situated by Bow Lake, set against a backdrop of the lake and mountains, creating a truly beautiful scene.

The interior of the café is warmly and adorably decorated. In addition to beverages and light snacks, they also sell some small souvenirs. I initially thought that drinks sold at such tourist spots would be overpriced and average, but I ended up having the best hot chocolate I've tasted recently 🍫!!!

As soon as the staff brought it out, it was a hot drink with a surface full of cocoa froth, looking vibrant and delicious! The first sip revealed a very rich chocolate flavor that wasn't overly sweet. Salted chocolate really is the best 😋. The thickness was just right, neither too thick nor too thin. I must say, it's an excellent hot chocolate! You can finish a big cup by yourself without getting tired of it, highly recommended 👍.

My visit was in late September, early October. Despite the bright sun outside, you could still feel a chill by the lake, making it a perfect time for a hot drink. The afternoon sun combined with the beautiful lakeside scenery was truly refreshing and satisfying for both body and soul.

Banff has many famous lakes, and if you pass by Bow Lake, I highly recommend spending some time here to buy a hot drink, pause, and take photos. You won't regret it!
