This time I visited "Sheng Tian Lu Wei," located on Zhongzheng Road in Yongkang, Tainan, a place I used to frequent. Their braised pork rice has a very noticeable charcoal aroma, with a perfect balance of fat and lean meat, and the braised dishes are especially good with rice. However, if you don't add at least medium spicy to the braised dishes, they tend to taste bland and lack their distinctive flavor. Therefore, I recommend those who enjoy bold flavors to choose a higher spice level, as it better showcases the advantages of the braised dishes.
Unfortunately, one downside is that the prices at this restaurant have been consistently rising. A few years ago, it was a budget option, but the prices are now significantly higher than before. This is also one of the reasons I've gone from visiting weekly to only coming once a season. Most of the dishes have seen a greater price increase, but the portion sizes have not changed. Additionally, there are also mentions in Google reviews regarding hygiene issues, such as cockroaches in meals. Although I haven't personally encountered this, it is still concerning.
Overall, the taste of Sheng Tian Lu Wei remains relatively stable. However, the cost-performance ratio is poor, and some Google reviews have included photos of cockroaches, so proceed with caution. 😆
