This new store, 新好利, is a more traditional bakery, but it adopts a more complex business model. Besides the famous Portuguese egg tarts, they also sell main dishes like noodles and rice, and there are coffee-related drinks and snacks to enjoy. So there’s no need to worry about not finding something you like to eat.
However, I came here primarily for the egg tart. I probably looked like a tourist and only bought one egg tart, which seemed to make the owner a bit disinterested.🤣 But focusing on the egg tart itself, I chose the original flavor because I wanted to taste something more authentic. The outer pastry is very crispy, quite authentic to the Portuguese style, but it seems that aside from being crispy, there’s nothing else particularly outstanding; the filling is similarly sweet, with a moderate sweetness but lacking other memorable traits.
Compared to other chain bakeries selling egg tarts on the tourist street, the flavor isn’t particularly special, and the price is quite a bit higher. However, if you’re here for a full meal, it could definitely be a nice choice to pair with desserts and drinks!
