📍Location: Taoyuan, Taiwan
This is a curry shop that has grown from a small food truck into a small restaurant🍛. I’ve visited many times; the boss and his wife started from a food truck on Nankan Road, originally selling only two types of curry, but now it has expanded to four and has its own storefront. However, after moving to Longtan, it became far from my living area, and this time, I happened to be heading south and could make a stop along the way.
The shop is very unassuming, tucked behind a bustling road, giving it an aura of being isolated from the busy world. The surroundings feel a bit neglected😆; you can just park randomly on the roadside behind the restaurant.
The interior is simply decorated but has a hipster vibe; there aren’t many seats, and during lunchtime on weekdays, it’s usually about half full. This time, we ordered for two:
Special Spiced Fried Chicken Curry🍗 ($240)
The curry sauce is made with various vegetables and fruits, resulting in a rich sweet and fruity flavor that both my companion and I really enjoyed. The fried chicken is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, very delicious 👍 Highly recommended! It tastes quite different from the usual curry.
Garlic Butter Shrimp Dry Curry🍤 ($280)
The curry is made with various spices and mixed with a lot of minced meat, along with some diced tomatoes and corn. Being a dry curry, it doesn't have much sauce and has a spicy kick; it seems to be seasoned with Tabasco, leaning more towards a Mexican style, with less sweetness and more saltiness. Personally, I prefer the fried chicken with its fruity curry flavor and like having curry sauce paired with rice, but everyone should definitely try it as it's also tasty.
The shop basically operates with just the two of them; the boss handles the kitchen, and the boss's wife manages the dining area. The boss's wife provides excellent service, energetically introducing and recommending dishes every time I visit! The menu has been updated slightly over time, showing that the boss is serious about developing new dishes, and you can feel the passion the couple puts into running their business.
I highly recommend this unique Japanese curry shop located in Longtan to everyone!
