Every time I come here and want to eat taro balls, I always walk to Aunt A-Gan at the back, because I’ve liked Aunt A-Gan more since I tried both Aunt A-Gan and Grandma Lai before.
Grandma Lai's taro balls are chewier, but I prefer the denser ones made with more natural ingredients. I don’t like it when too many additional powders are added, so I ended up only eating Aunt A-Gan's. However, the broth for the taro balls is a bit sweet, containing red beans, mung beans, great red beans, along with the taro balls and sweet potato balls.
Everyone has different preferences, so it's worth trying both. The two most famous places for taro balls in Jiufen are these two, and you can choose either iced or hot versions. Aunt A-Gan has a great view from the seating area, and there are plenty of seats where you can enjoy the scenery while you eat.
After eating, you have to clean up yourself, and there are restrooms available for washing your hands.
