This time, I visited the luxurious crepe specialty store "Kotobuki Seian," which is a 9-minute walk from Asakusa Station and is focused on Uji matcha from Kyoto!
Opened in September 2019, it has gained a reputation for its delicious crepes made lavishly with Uji matcha from Kyoto, and today it’s so popular that there’s often a line, and they distribute numbered tickets!
The owner is from Kyoto, and that's why he opened this shop using Uji matcha.
The matcha used here comes from the long-established dealer "Kuwahara Zensuke Shoten" in Uji, Kyoto, and the matcha powder, which has a good aroma, color, and mouthfeel, is carefully ground from tea leaves using a stone mill. Since a generous amount of this matcha is kneaded into the dough, the baked crepe has a beautiful matcha color, and it’s evident just by looking at it that it's delicious!
Taking a bite, you can distinctly experience the slight bitterness and umami of the matcha in the crepe♪ There were about four types of matcha crepes available.
Menu I ordered:
【Yasaka】
The chewy, rich matcha crepe is topped with whipped cream and homemade matcha cream, and inside it has a tiramisu made with plenty of black beans produced in the Tanba region and matcha sauce, finished off with a dusting of matcha powder, making all the flavors come together beautifully♡
【Uji】
The all-matcha crepe feels heavy in hand and is quite voluminous. The crunchy chocolate goes perfectly with the matcha.
Because it’s topped generously with matcha, you have to be careful while eating it, or you might choke, but I think that’s part of the charm♪
While dining in is not available inside the shop, there are benches nearby, so please sit there and enjoy the luxurious matcha crepes slowly.
Again, I'm fully satisfied, Harapeko-chan!
Thank you for the meal!
