🚩 A 30-year-old restaurant with exceptional culinary skills
📍 Location and Transportation: Cheng Jia Xiao Guan is located on Yanji Street in the Eastern District of Taipei, near Cathay General Hospital. The nearest MRT station is Xinyi Anhe Station, Exit 5, which is about a 4-minute walk away. There are quite a few parking spaces for cars and scooters in the surrounding alleys.
🏠 Space: The main store of Cheng Jia Xiao Guan is in Muzha, while the Ren'ai branch relocated in 2015. The exterior looks quite new, and the interior decor is simple, featuring round tables of various sizes and tables for 3-4 people. The photos of the dishes on the walls showcase their signature and popular dishes. Today, during a weekday lunch, there were only two groups of customers in the restaurant.
💰 Ordering and Payment: The staff takes orders verbally at the table, and payment can only be made in cash after dining.
🍽️ Dishes:
We ordered quite a few dishes today, and the descriptions are written below the images ⬇️
(Online sources say this place serves northeastern cuisine, but the restaurant's Facebook introduces it as Sichuan and Hunan cuisine, so I guess I'll categorize it as Chinese cuisine. 🤣)
💭 Summary:
Today, my colleague and I initially planned to have pig’s trotters rice, but that restaurant was unexpectedly closed, so we ended up at Cheng Jia Xiao Guan. After placing our order, we could hear the loud sizzling from the kitchen, which was quite pleasant. The environment and service attitude are reasonably good. The flavors of the dishes are standard without any major issues, but the downside might be the higher pricing, which isn't something we can afford to enjoy regularly. 🥺
